Our New Son Luke David Scott

Well, here he is-

Crazy, huh? After we got back to the L&D ward this morning, the doctors came in soon after to check how far along Mindy was. It was a good thing we got back when we did, because she was completely effaced and the baby was moving down past the pelvis. They basically just made her wait to start pushing so that they could get everybody in there- it was quite a peanut gallery. So with Mindy all doped up on her epidural (Which she LOVED) they had her push as her contractions came through on the monitor. That worked well, because as it went on they had the head out before the doctor doing the delivery was in the room. She did help out though, because the cord was wrapped around Luke’s neck and she couldn’t loop it, and cut it so they could get him out. He was pretty purple, but once they suctioned his nose and mouth, he turned pink and started crying. It was a very surreal, emotional moment for sure. I can’t say I’ve ever quite felt that way before.

Luke weighed in at 7lbs 3 oz, and measured 19 inches long. He was born at 11:14 am (or 1114 hours for those nerdy military types) at Irwin Army Community Hospital here at Ft. Riley. I’ll let Mindy write the next one on how it was for her, but I have to get back to the hospital. Here’s some pictures to tide you all over for now.

Our little grandson is precious. Welcome to our world, little one. You have been prayed for-for many months and we are so happy you are finally here! Your grandparents in Maryland cannot wait to hold you in their arms. We are so thankful for God's loving care and faithfulness in your safe delivery. We love you guys- Chris, Mindy and Luke.

Well I am sure glad you posted pictures on your blog, Luke's Mom- Mom in Maryland has been driving us crazy at work. Then again, we have all been driving her crazy too, wondering when we were going to see her grandson. I have been praying for all of you and am extremely glad the Old folks here in Maryland (Granny and Grandpop) will be making the trip shortly to see their first Grandchild. When they come please let them spoil him (you can always de-program him later). It is afterall a grandparents prerogative to do so. From all of us here at CareFirst Congratulations!!!!

Hang in there with the nursing. Sometimes it's difficult for the first few weeks. Usually everything clicks by 6 weeks and
supply and demand level out and
it becomes easy. Don't give up.
Luke is absolutely gorgeous.
Congratulations!
