Vaccinations are no fun at all!

Well, yesterday was the day for those long dreaded horrible vaccinations. First of all though, Luke’s official measurements are: 40 ½ cm around the head, 23 ½ inches long, and 15.35 pounds. That puts him in the 50th percentile for his head and length and the 90th percentile for his weight…yes he’s a chunk! =) The doctor said he looked good and healthy. I asked him about his lactose intolerance and he said for me to keep trying the milk as he gets older, but until he can handle it, I can do soy milk. He said sometimes the enzymes they need to break it down and digest don’t mature until they get older. Then it was time for the dreaded shots. He got three, and it was torture. He did pretty well though. He cried (the pain cry where no sound comes out for a few seconds and then it’s a heart wrenching wail) and turned bright red. I was trying to comfort him and it was all I could do to wait until they were done vaccinating him to pick him up and comfort him. They had us wait 20 minute before leaving to make sure everything was ok, so I nursed him and that seemed to calm him down. We gave him Tylenol before his shots, so that has been helping. Every now and again he’ll get a bit cranky and he’s had a low fever, but the Tylenol has been working wonders.

In other Luke news: He can hold his head all the way up when he’s laying on his tummy. He love to be read too and look at books, he’s making all kinds of cute noises - coo’s, grunts, laughs…they are all too cute! He’s been smiling a ton lately…unless we get out the camera, video camera or web cam…then for some reason, he stops smiling and gets fussy! He’s found his feet, but can’t quite figure out how to grab them. He’ll swing his arms in their general direction and kick his feet wildly. He looks exactly like Chris when he was Luke’s age. Mom-mom and Pop-pop showed us pictures over the webcam, and the resemblance was amazing! Chris was a big baby just like Luke is now…so we know where he gets it at least. =) Let’s see…what else…Chris and I love being parents…there’s really nothing like it. Sometimes I’m amazed that we have a baby…but then I can’t remember how life was without our little man. We love it! Which means, God willing, there will be more little Chris Scotts (if we ever have a girl, it’ll be a miracle!) running around…but not for another few years.

Chris and I have both been really busy like usual. But life is good and we’re both happy. We’re still on track to move in December, and so far no deployment orders have been sent our way. Well, I gotta get going…it’s taken me like 4 days to get this blog ready (which is why the post date is Sunday and not today, Wednesday. I've been saving it as a draft and adding on to it as I can.) =) Until next time, enjoy these pictures!

Getting ready for a diaper change...

Mommy and Luke Time!

Luke loves to chew on your fingers...and his as well!

Luke is mesmerized by this little red dot on the side of his swing...he loves that almost as much as the cute mobile on it!

Luke loves his bouncy chair!

Smile!

Luke has started rubbing his eyes very vigorously when he's tired.

Close up!!!

Luke is after Carolyn's husband Mike...you see, Luke wants Carolyn all to himself and Mike is in the way of that. So Luke stares him down in Sunday School with this expression hitting his fists together...it's a warning Mike, I'd take it seriously. =)

He really did use to be a tiny little thing! These are pictures from his first few weeks of life...can you believe he was ever that small!!!
