Fetus on Board

We created this blog so we could share with folks who want to see what we're experiencing as we approach D-Day...the day our son will be born. We're both excited for the big day, and anxious to get the next chapter of our lives started. Plus, Mindy's tired of lugging the little guy around all day and night, and really wants Chris to pull his weight in this thing too.

We found out last September that Mindy was pregnant- and Chris promptly left for the field for four days. After 10 pregnancy tests (didn't she know how accurate they are?) and a visit to the doctor, we knew there was definitely something growing in there. Chris finally came back, and we waited to tell anyone but close family. We traveled to Godfrey, IL, to tell Mindy's parents (who guessed it right away), and on the way there called and told Chris' parents in Salisbury, MD (who seemed very reserved, but finally came around when they grapsed that they were in fact old enough to be grandparents).

We were a bit curious as to what it was. Mindy's mom swore it was a girl. Mindy had a gut feeling it was a boy. Chris thought it might be an alien; plus, wouldn't it be awesome if the thing just broke out and started running around the room? So, ok, it wasn't an alien- but you can imagine what it would be like if it was. Turns out he was a he.

Anyway, to make two and a half long trimesters short, Mindy had a VERY difficult time with nausea early on, and was reduced to laying on the couch watching ER all day. The doctors at the army hospital where we are stationed were less than enthusiastic about finding the cause an/or cure to the whole thing (there's a chapter for this blog sometime), but they did finally give Mindy some good drugs to counter it (Zofran). She finally "grew" out of it, and only takes it once a day now, as opposed to the 4-5 times before that. We'll see if the kid has three arms or something when he decides to pay us a visit.

So the due date is June 12th, and we wait. So in the meantime- between when Mindy prays for him to come early- we'll post here as often as we can and update folks on how things are going. Feel free to comment or criticize or whatever.

I love it!! Hey you guys! When I first got the news I said "Oh! I'm going to be a grandmother"! Ha! Something like that- an auntie?! I'm very excited and have been praying for you all. I love you very much! I keep seeing stuff I want to buy you all. I need to know your colors. I hope to see you all soon.
Hugs,
Cousin Nancy

Mindy, you look sooooo precious. Tell Chris if he thinks the Army is disciplined he's about to get a lesson in Fatherhood discipline. Mindy, you are now the commanding officer and don't be shy about giving out orders to Daddy to pull his share of duties including night duty. I love you both & wish you a lifetime of happiness as a 'family'.

P.S. June 4th would be an excellent date to have your baby....I know that for a fact!
